We have a football version of the prodigal son going on here in Philly. I heard someone mention there was a religious element to this Foles/Wentz situation on the radio yesterday. When I called my parents before the game as I often to to get there thoughts on the outcome my dad said they don't have a chance in hell, but my mom said "They are taking God off the bench, and they're gonna win."
I mean I don't know about all that, but it is pretty remarkable, that they went in to LA as double digit underdogs and gave the Rams their first home loss of the year. It is pretty unbelievable that this time last year we were putting our hope in Nick Foles (or not hoping at all), and that we are in the same exact spot this year. Although arguably with even less reason to believe, with the way the season has gone, the lackluster, play and playcalling and injuries galore.
The Eagles did look different last night, and it is really hard to quantify, but there was a spark with our backup in there. He had a nice deep ball going (Carson had no deep ball this year) and his connection with Alshon was electric. He spread the ball around better last night then they have much of the year, and they were comitted to the run game with Adams, Smallwood and Sproules all having an impact.
Foles is not the better quarterback in my opinion, and we want Carson to get healthy and be back to his pre ACL tear self next year. Now, let's see if Foles will recapture the magic of last winter and if Doug and the Eagles will rally behind legendary Big Game Nick!
